Ugly Face
Janice Speegle
Hey ya'll, hope your enjoying your summer. Aren't you so thankful for air conditioners?! I think of you all often and pray that you're seeing great things happen in your personal lives and ministries.

Now all of ya'll that know me know that I am a very emotional person. I love good strong positive emotions! They make up most of my days. But occasionally there's an emotion that I truly despise that tries to work its way into my heart. That emotion is fear. What a lying, deceitful emotion! You do know that most of the things that this emotion causes us so much worry over doesn't even happen, don't you?

Years ago I lost a dear friend to cancer. I'll never forget what the Lord shared with me one day in her hospital room. I was standing by her bed praying for her, binding cancer, and the Lord spoke so clearly to my heart and said, "Cancer is not taking her life, fear is!" Wow, that shook me strongly! The fear she had allowed to consume her was stealing her faith for healing.

Reality Check

Jill WindhamEvery once in a while, I have to give myself a little reality check.  This usually comes when I am feeling like my issues aren't as bad as other people's issues, or perhaps that my stink has NEVER stunk as badly as someone else's does.
And while the words may change from time to time, the gist remains the same.

Dear Self,

Quite the big girl, aren't you?  Everything's going good right now, so you think you've mastered Grace...  mastered the "Jesus" thing.
Well, you haven't.  See, on your best day, your righteousness is at BEST filthy rags.  So anything that you succeed at, you did through His ability, not yours.  And really, all you do for Him is simply your part in the Kingdom... your responsibility in the body of Christ.  At any point in time, there are millions of people across the globe doing their part, so don't start thinking you're a shining star or something.

Why Kids Ministry Is So Important
by Rod Windham

Rod WindhamI've heard it said many times that if we don't reach our children by the time they are 18 years of age, there's less than a 10 percent chance that they will ever commit their lives to Jesus Christ. This is a very sobering thought for me as a minister to children.

Each week I find myself with another incredible opportunity to present a living, breathing Jesus to kids who are hungry to hear about Him. The best tools that we possess for this undertaking is an understanding of the life-changing Gospel, a daily experience with Jesus, and the ability to have fun! Kids are searching for the real thing... someone who will be real with them and teach them it's okay to be a strong Christian and make mistakes. They're looking for somebody to laugh at their own mistakes and help create an atmosphere of fun, excitement, and the presence of God!

Why Are You Afraid?
Jackie DawsonIt had been a calm evening, but suddenly a storm came out of nowhere.  Not a small storm, but a terrible storm of mega proportions.   It was so big the waves were filling the boat with water.   The disciples began to panic.   At first, they may have thought they were okay because Jesus was onboard.  However, the storm continued to rage, and Jesus was not helping.  As a matter of fact, Jesus was in the stern of the boat asleep.   They were facing a life threatening situation and Jesus was asleep!  How could someone sleep through such a storm?  How could the Miracle Worker allow such a storm to come upon them?  Many questions must have gone through their desperate minds.

When the disciples woke Jesus, He asked them a question that must have made them wonder about His sanity!  Jesus in the middle of a mega storm asked, "Why are you afraid?"

I can imagine the disciples' frustration with such a question.  They must have thought Jesus was still asleep if He had to ask them why they were afraid.  Wasn't it obvious?  They were afraid because without divine intervention, they were in a huge storm and about to DIE.
